ToutWAF versus the usual alternatives

Cloud WAAPs are simple but send your traffic to a third party. Appliances are powerful but heavy and costly. Open source is flexible but demands expertise. ToutWAF combines the strengths of all three, and looks after your servers too. Below: a generic view by category, then a product-by-product table.

✓ Yes~ Partial or depends on edition? See vendor docs: not verified here, check with the vendor– n/a: outside the scope of that product category

As of October 2026, based on public vendor documentation; it may change. Only what is documented is marked; a blank assumption is never made, so when we are not sure the cell says see vendor docs. For ToutWAF, only what is implemented in the current release is marked. This page is not a product test and gives no performance figures. Product names and trademarks belong to their owners and imply no affiliation. Please verify with each vendor before deciding.

Detection benchmark

The project measures detection on its own small corpus (109 attack payloads in 15 categories and 73 legitimate inputs, each sent through four channels) and runs a load test of the proxy. The figures and their method are in the documentation, with their limits.

No independent suite (such as GoTestWAF) has been run and no comparison with another product exists. The figures from the project's own corpus are published, with their method and limits, in the documentation; they are not repeated here because they are not independent. Targets are design goals, not results. Measure your own deployment with the built-in benchmark.
